I have two pending jobs where I need to capture a fox with kits and a coyote with pups.
I am looking for suggestions on the best way to approach these situations. Do I gang set and try to catch all at once? try to catch the adult female then the young?
The fox is on the grounds of a nearby college; it has dug a den under a storage shed at the softball field. Will a positive set work for fox? I have a vision in my head of a Fox colony trap.
The coyote pups are coming up into my client's yard and stealing toys that his dog and children leave in the yard. Recently they we in his yard in the middle of the afternoon.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I always gang set on fox and coyote jobs any time of the year. I will make certain that my pan tension is set for an adult because in a perfect world that is what you want to catch first (never happens like that).
I usually will catch kits and adolescents first and by the time you have caught 7-9 of them your chances of catching the mother are slim to none which is why I will set the job back up in the fall or winter (no set up fee on reset) to knock out any adults that might be in the area.
I had a similar job last year where a fox was dened up on a property with kits. The female started getting aggressive and the kits started venturing onto the clients porch and barking at her dogs through the french doors in the middle of the day. I set the job up (a dozen MB550s 2 coil with 2lb pan tension) and knocked out 9 kits and two adolescents. I told the lady that the I had missed the mother and that she would be back if I didn't reset in the fall/ winter. December came around and she didn't call. left two or three messages and she never called back.
Flash forward to Memorial Day and I am at my neighbor's house grilling out when her husband calls me because there were 5 kits playing in his front lawn. I set back up and have caught 7 more (5 kits and two adolescents). The clients have already signed a contract for me to reset in December so they don't have the same problem next spring. I am pretty confident I'll catch 7-11 more on the property in December.
Hope this helps
Chris
